Get Gran Turismo for Free with Sony PSP Go

Get Gran Turismo for Free with Sony PSP Go
So, the launch of the Sony PSP Go is right around the corner and Sony is not going to be ready with its UMD transfer service when the new handheld hits your favorite retail outlet. How do they plan on making it up to you? How about a free game? How about a free Gran Turismo?

Most of us would agree that Gran Turismo PSP would probably be one of the more popular titles on the new PSP Go, since that racing game franchise has easily hit legendary status over the years. As such, this sounds like quite the appealing incentive to invest in a new PSP Go.

So, how do you do it? From what I understand, you’ll need to buy the new Sony PSP Go on October 1st (that’s this Thursday) and then you need to log into the PlayStation Store on the PSPgo between 1400 GMT (I think that’s 10am EST) on October 1st and 2359 GMT on October 10th.

After you log in to your account, you download the Gran Turismo theme for the PSPgo and then you’ll get an email with the promotional code shortly thereafter. Enter this code in the PlayStation Store and you get Gran Turismo PSP.

Samsung AMOLED 12M is More Camera than Phone

Samsung AMOLED 12M is More Camera than Phone
I’m all for convergence and I will admit that I use my smartphone for non-phone purposes more than I do for the actual voice calls, but this could be going a little too far in the other direction. Asmsung has just revealed its new Samsung AMOLED 12M, a phone with a 12-megapixel digital camera.

Also known as the SCH-W880, the AMOLED 12M looks a lot more like a standalone digital camera than it does a cell phone. For example, the camera barrel actually extends out of the body to provide you with true 3x optical zoom.

You’ll also notice the very camera-centric jog dial on the side (or top, depending on your perspective) for switching between the different shooting modes. This really is like a real camera. It can even shoot 720p at 30fps. The AMOLED 12M also offers Touch Auto-Focus for selective focus via the touchscreen display.

Rounding out the specs are WCDMA 2100, a 3.3-inch WVGA AMOLED screen, xenon flash, T-DMB mobile TV, Bluetooth 2.0, 4GB internal memory, microSD expansion, and a 1,100 mAh battery. Look for the Samsung SCH-W880 in Korea in mid-October.

Garmin nuvifone Finally Launches Next Week with AT&T
September 29, 2009 at 4:18 pm

Garmin nuvifone Finally Launches Next Week with AT&TWe’ve been following the sage of the Garmin nuvifone for far too long. We’ve seen a concept float around for months and months with no sign of when we’d have a physical product in our hands. It’s been a very long time coming, but the date is finally upon us. AT&T will be launching the Garmin nuvifone G60 next week. Yes, next week.

At long last, the Garmin nuvifone G60 will go on sale through AT&T for $299 with a qualifying two-year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate. That’s more expensive than the iPhone and most BlackBerry devices, so why would you want to spend the premium on this touchscreen cell phone?

Well, the Garmin-Asus G60 is supposed to provide the “easiest-to-use location experiences available because it is the only phone to fully integrate the world’s best selling GPS navigator with voice, data and mobile web.” I like the Garmin GPS integration, but other phones do GPS too.

The feature list also mentions the big touchscreen, a 3 megapixel camera, geotagging capabilities, and plenty of preloaded points of interest. The phone is designed to work with the car mount and it will automatically mark your location when you remove the G60 from this mount. That way, you’ll easily find your car when you return.

Toshiba Satellite T100 Ultraportable Fits Your Budget

Toshiba Satellite T100 Ultraportable Fits Your Budget
Unless you look at the relatively underpowered netbook market, you can expect to pay quite a premium to get into the ultraportable notebook market. These are real laptops in slightly smaller packages. Toshiba is bucking the trend, you could say, with the unveiling of the Toshiba Satellite T100 series. These things are actually pretty cheap.

Rather than dropping $2,000 or more for an adequately equipped ultraportable from someone else, you might want to think about the Satellite T115 instead. Prices start at just $450 and you get an 11.6-inch HD display.

Other highlights include Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel SU4100 or Celeron 743 processor, DDR3 RAM, up to 250GB HDD, multi-touch trackpad, HDMI-out, and a six-cell battery for up to nine hours of life. This is far from being top of the line, but you are only paying $450. That’s the same price as many Atom-powered netbooks.

If you’d prefer to have a slightly bigger screen, Toshiba also has the Satellite 135 with a 13.3-inch HD display. That starts at $600 and comes with your choice of Intel SU4100 or SU2700, as well as built-in Bluetooth.

Windows 7 to Power Microsoft Courier Tablet PC
September 29, 2009 at 3:32 pm

Windows 7 to Power Microsoft Courier Tablet PC
Many people, myself included, are very interested in what Apple has up its sleeve for the so-called iPad Tablet, but the boys and gals in Redmond have a few tricks up their sleeve too. We caught our first glimpse at the Courier Tablet a short while ago, but now we have a few more details surrounding the upcoming Microsoft product.

Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny the existence of this project, but all indications are pointing toward the very real release of a book-style tablet PC. This is quite different from the single tablets that we’ve seen from other companies and the proposed form factor for the Apple Mac Tablet.

Regarding the Microsoft Courier Tablet PC, we’re hearing that Windows 7 will be the operating system at its core, just like how Vista is at the core of the Microsoft Surface. We’re also hearing that Microsoft is producing the hardware as well, instead of relying on an OEM/ODM to produce the physical product on their behalf. This is in sharp contrast to the approach the company has taken with Windows Mobile.

It’s still possible that the hardware will be produced by someone else, but the branding will carry the Microsoft name like how they did with the Xbox 360 gaming system and Zune media player. Most sources are pointing toward a Microsoft branding scheme.

The current rumors are pointing toward a mid-2010 delivery of the Microsoft Courier, which is probably around the same time that Apple will be releasing its iPad Mac Tablet.
